Supporting Your Local Deaf or Hard of Hearing Charity.

In the UK we have a number of wonderful charities that assist deaf and hard of hearing people on a daily basis. A misconception is that once someone with a hearing loss is provided with a hearing aid or cochlea implant they should be able to hear just as well as previously. Many charities provide support via a through volunteer ran The truth is a hearing aid and cochlea implant does this job but their are things they can't give you:

additional hearing aid support, basic hearing aid repairs, free helpline support, support while job searching. Bringing people together, reducing isolation. Campaigning to improve facilities for deaf and hard of hearing people, only recently has parliment passed an amendment to legally enfore subtitles with video on demand services. Changes such as these do not happen without the help of the general public.
