Newborn Hearing Screener (Wakefield)

The newborn hearing screening service at The Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking an experienced and qualified hearing screener to cover 30 hours per week initially until October 2020.

Our screening team currently consists of 6 newborn hearing screeners and one co-ordinator who work effectively as a team and who liaise with Audiologists and a variety of support staff within the Audiology service to provide a wide range of Audiological services to the people of Wakefield and North Kirklees.

Your main duties will be to undertake hearing screening on newborn babies at the bedside or on the maternity ward, Neonatal Unit and as outpatients. The Newborn Hearing Screening service runs over 7 days per week including weekends and Bank Holiday cover.

We need a person with excellent communication skills, an ability to organise and work on their own initiative and as a team member. We will require you to have GCSE or equivalent in English and maths and currently hold a Diploma in Newborn Hearing Screening or be working towards this. Alternatively you will have substantial experience and have completed Newborn Hearing Screening OSCE’s. A basic understanding of IT and working in a hospital would be advantageous.
