Newborn Hearing Screener (Cambridge)

We are seeking to recruit 1.0 wte highly motivated and enthusiastic applicant who are organized and methodical to join our 'family-friendly' and dedicated Newborn Hearing Screening team based at Luton & Dunstable and Bedford Hospital and also cover community sites across Bedfordshire and Luton. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as good computer skills are required. Experience of working in a hospital environment and baby handling skills are desirable. This will involve working weekends on a rota basis (1 in 3), hours to be worked flexibly to cover 7 days.

Must be able to travel independently across site, often at short notice with equipment.

You will be required to perform the hearing screen, record and collect data and liaise with parents and professionals. We are looking for someone who has previous Newborn Hearing Screening experience, who has successfully completed their training. OR Someone who is interested in training as a Newborn Hearing Screener and who has a good standard of education with a minimum of GCSE Maths and English or equivalent. They will be expected to self-directed study and submit work on an electronic database –IT skills are essential. You must be prepared to complete a Level 3 Diploma in Screening whilst completing in service training within approx. 2 years , this includes the NHSP eLearning modules, an external practical assessment (OSCE).
