Intergenerational Project Officer (Birmingham)

We are looking for a creative individual to support the Deaf Elders Group 1 day a week to develop,deliver and evaluate a new Intergenerational arts and crafts project. This will involve a monthly session with deaf/hard of hearing children and young people to build awareness of both generations including communication, culture and share new skills. The aim of this exciting new project is to improve mental wellbeing and reduce isolation.

As part of the role ,you will take the lead on developing activities,which are appropriate for an older population also bearing in mind they will need to be suitable for deaf children and young people.The successful candidate will be expected to manage a small budget, experience in this area would be useful.

ideally candidate will have an excellent awareness and knowledge of deaf people and deaf community,able to communicate in British Sigh Language up tp Level 2 standard,have previous experience of working or volunteering with both older and young people and in organising/delivering a full programme of activities.
