Reviews
For some reason when first trying out the Bose noise-making sleep buds I thought they would cancel out all your daily noisey sounds such as traffic and vehicle noise when on the bus, partner snoring and loud background conversation. It doesn't really do that. What it does do is link to an app called the Bose sleep app where you can choose from an array of different masking sounds (your going to need an iPhone or an Android for this). Personally if you love natural sounds, then you will like these ear buds and if the sound of rain or wind sends you to sleep then it is worth giving it a go. There are a few unusual sounds in the list that didn't quite work for me such as the 'altitude' sound which gives you a feeling of being on an airplane and the 'downstream' sound made me feel like I needed to go to the bathroom. There are choices, although limited which is great as everyone is different. It would be even better to see the list of sound choices to be expanded by Bose even further in the future.
The aim of these sounds are to gently mask over the noise you don't want to hear as a brain distraction method. I feel they do do that espeically as you have control over the sound volume through the app too. The fit of the ear buds was a crucial element for me, I have tried sleep plugs before and they have kept me awake because they were uncomfortable when lying on that side, the ear was overally full however these ear buds a sleek, small and flexible with three size options too. They do take a little getting used to, so if you do give them a go, try them out for at least a week before deciding if they are for you. The battery life of the ears buds is 16 hours so depending on your average sleep time, should be able to get two nights sleep out of them before needing to recharge.
